Plans for the Future The Sedimenti Partners have spent the last three years, among other things, toiling over some five acres of land in SW Washington. Not 40 minutes from the art-filled city of Portland, Oregon and about twenty minutes from the PDX airport, we hope to share this property and its magnificent barn by fitting it out with studios and yurts (semi-permanent tent-like structures which can be heated and as comfortable as a house) so that we might host workshops and artist's residencies. Though we'd like to focus on peer collaboration and environmentally sound art practices we cannot seem to fully dismiss the concern that art classes in public schools are dwindling to an extinct area of study. If anyone is interested in assisting us in setting up the framework or possibly grant writing we will do our best to offer a place for high school and younger kids to pursue this important avenue in life: art, which has given us and so many of our friends a purpose in life. Here are just a few ideas for workshops and uses of the land:
.............-where pigments and oils come from .............-how to make oil and water based paints from them .............-what to grow that can be used for pigments and mediums .............-how to grow these plants, we can use our fields to actually grow our paint!
.............-Mark mentioned being able to easily make saunas or steam rooms too! .............-he's also made adobe huts and earthship structures
.............-Crating artwork for delivery .............-make your own fooz ball table, buy your supplies, we'll have the makings to walk away with your own unassembled table at the end of the weekend.
